Fiat another special little Panda unveils

Called the Glam Edition, the special version starts with the Panda 4x4 and updates it with a new pearl white paint job complimented by aluminum roof rails and a new set of 15" alloys, but the Panda 4x4 Glam differentiates itself further inside with denim-style upholstery that should bridge the gap between the hip Diesel edition 500 and the maternal Panda Mammy.

Car News: Fiat Abarth co-brands with Intel PC and Yamaha FZ1

Abarth is sleeping with some rather unusual bedfellows in Intel and Yamaha. The way forward in the motor industry is an unknown one so who knows where these collaborations might lead. The Intel one has future ECU possibilities of course, but for now it’s confined to branding a high-performance desktop machine powered by Intel’s new Core i7 Extreme processor, which is the most powerful Intel processor ever built.
The Abarth Powerplay Extreme PC is being exhibited at the 0 - 100 show and features everything that a hardcore gamer needs from a PC. The machine is used in recognition of gamers’ wide and often limit-bending applications of PCs, making them a sort of test bed for extreme performance. It will be the protagonist to Intel Friday Night Game, a championship in which 30 countries compete.


Yamaha’s involvement with Abarth takes the form of a “naked” FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corso bike with 150hp, very light with generous use of aluminium, titanium and carbon fiber components. It features monobloc brake callipers, daisy discs and a very adjustable suspension system. Abarth livery adds to the sporting mystique of this new collaboration.

Fiat's Bugster electric off-road concept revealed in Sao Paulo

Fiat has opened Sao Paulo Auto Show today with the official presentation of Bugster. The only problem is that Bugster was only the development name of the car. Its real name became FCC II, short for Fiat Concept Car.


Equipped with a real electric engine, able to develop 59 kW (80.2 bhp) and 220 Nm, FCC II is powered by 93 lithium-ion batteries and is able to run up to 100 km. The concept vehicle is 3.25 m long, 1.81 m wide, 1.48 m tall and has 2.16 m of wheelbase. Its large tyres, 255/55 R19, give it a mean appearance.


If it was able to carry more batteries, it surely would be better both in range and in performance (not disclosed, but easy to guess with its engine), but it would weigh much more than its 980 kg.


FCC II uses only one engine, but it could have at least one per axle, what would make it a real 4x4. Anyway, it is already better than any stationary 1:1 model.

Sao Paulo Motor Show : Fiat Bugster Concept Debuts

This greenish two-seater concept that looks like a crossover variant of the KTM X-Bow (check it out by clicking here) is the Fiat Bugster and it will make its world debut at the bi-annual Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil which takes place this year between 30 October and 10 November.


The concept vehicle that has been developed by the Italian firm's automotive engineering division in Brazil features a zero-emissions electric engine while its outer body is made completely out of renewable natural fibers thus reducing the environmental impact of the vehicle. Fiat Confirms Convertible Version of 500

Fiat Auto on Monday confirmed it would be bringing a convertible version of its new 500 to market.

Some news can always be anticipated, but formal confirmations of new products always have a bigger impact. This applies to the convertible version of Fiat 500, confirmed to Just-Auto.com by the Styling Director of Fiat himself, Roberto Giolito, during the Automotive News Europe Congress. One year ago, we have already spoken about a topless version of the small Italian, as well as a bigger version of it, the Giardinera, a station wagon for Fiat to face the Mini Clubman.

Besides making the launch of the car almost official (we will have to wait for a press release in order to consider the 500 Cabrio more than a sure thing), Giolito also stated, according to Just-Auto.com, that the new version of the 500 will have a fabric top, instead of the foldable hard tops that are becoming increasingly popular. Although it was more than expected, due to the small dimensions of the car, but fabric tops are also said to have been considerably improved. If this charming future convertible manages to be as silent and well built as its hardtop version, success is sure to be in its way, whether the top is on or off.

Novitec Fiat 500

The new Fiat 500 may be Car of the Year, but Novitec can always find a way to improve on things like performance and exclusivity when it comes to Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and of course Fiat

Starting with the engines, Novitec has taken the 13 liter JTD turbo-diesel to 83 hp / 61 kW from its stock 70 hp / 515 kW, reducing its 0-100 km/h sprint time to 119 seconds and raising its top speed to 165 km/h All this is possible through a plug-and-play control module available for just Euro 335

The 14 liter 16-valve petrol engine receives a supercharger, boosting its output to 131 hp / 964 kW while torque increases from 131 Nm to 172 Nm The nimble little engine can propel the Fiat 500 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 88 seconds while its top speed is 198 km/h

Novitec also offers a stainless steel exhaust with either one or two exhaust tips, a front apron with spoiler and additional air dams and 16 or 17 inch multi-spoke wheels (up to 215/35 R 17 for front and rear) with matching suspension modifications There are two option in regards to the suspension, either sport springs in combination with the production shock absorbers or a height-adjustable coil-over sport suspension set which can lower the car from 30 mm to 80mm

HAMANN sportivo Fiat 500

Coming somewhat as a surprise, renowned BMW tuning house Hamann have revealed a tuning package for the new Fiat 500. Labelled as the Sportivo the new tuning program took the Hamann engineers into unchartered territory which they duly responded with a lot of joy and enthusiasm. However, even though the end product may look good at first glance, the engineers have failed to put the same effort into this model as we have seen on many of their previous tuning programs.

The German tuner starts with a new set of 17 inch alloy rims and the chassis is lowered by 30mm leading to improved handling and drivability. Further peformance upgrades include a new sport exhaust system devised especially for the 1,4 litre petrol engine providing a thrilling soronous sound and a sports braking system for improved deceleration. The 1,3 Multijet 16V is treated to a power increase of 15hp taking the total up to 90hp by re-programming the integrated control unit.

Interior modifications are limited to an embroidered Hamann sportive logo and a set of aluminium pedals.

Fiat 500 Celebrity Race at Australian GP

The Vodafone Celebrity Challenge race went down well down under where Fiat 500 racing cars went up against one another as a sideshow to the F1 main race. Won by motocross champ Robbie Maddison, with Nathan Buckley second and downhill skier Steven Lee third, the celeb challenge wasn’t all about famous people driving a small famous car.

Said “Maddo” Maddison: “I really wanted to put on a show today and thank the sponsors for making all this happen. I’ve set world records on a motorcycle, but this experience has been a notch above.”

In a test of strength, and non-fitted airbags, former Australian Football League’s Western Bulldogs star Luke Darcy hit a safety railing during the third lap. This after he was nudged out of the way by Don Elgin, the track and field star.

“My intention was to take [Nathan] Buckley out, but Darcy just got in my way” quipped Elgin.

Although the Safety Car came howling down the track, no one had been seriously injured. The true victim of this test of manhood was the 500, which had to be removed from the scene.
