Proteus Cars has been acquired by rival sports car manufacturer Enduro Cars. For 21 years Proteus has been a leader in the field of re-creation sports cars, such as its renowned Jaguar C-Type, and is synonymous the world over with quality and attention to detail. Enduro’s all aluminium C-Type replica was launched to much acclaim at the 2006 International Historic Motorsport Show, since when examples have been sold in the UK, US, Belgium, Germany and Portugal.
One year on, Enduro are privileged to be the main show sponsor of Race Retro (the 2007 International Historic Motorsport Show – Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, March 23-25) and will use the opportunity to relaunch the prestigious Proteus name.
Both Proteus and Enduro brands will be represented at the exhibition, as from hereon the Proteus name will be reserved for fully-built, factory-warranted cars and the sale of any other body and chassis units, while the Enduro moniker will be used for the retailing of any separate mechanical components.
Jaguar never made a Coupe version of the C-Type, but there will be a Proteus one if the public react positively to the stunning half scale model that will also be displayed at the show। Said Chairman Matt Beverley, “Where there has been the choice of both Roadster and Coupe versions of a sports car (eg Jaguar XK 120, 140, 150, and E-Type), many have opted for the Coupe, if for no other reason than it offers added protection from the elements. It will be very interesting to see people’s reaction to the car Jaguar never built.”

With news reaching World Car Fans that Tata is gearing up for a full-scale takeover of Jaguar, it also appears that plans for the firm’s F-Type roadster could be green-lighted very soon.
With Ford prepared to relinquish its entire holding in the British luxury car builder to the Indian budget car maker, news of an all-new, compact Jaguar roadster – hoping to mark a return to true sports car market the firm dominated in the 1950s and 60s culminating in the legendary E-Type – is surely welcome by both the industry and consumers. The only people who won't be thrilled are Porsche as the planned car is thought to be aimed squarely at the 911 - already under fire from Nissan's astonishing new GT-R supercar.
Jaguar’s new parent-to-be, Tata, seems to have some great plans at hand; ahead of the much anticipated take-over that is expected within the next two weeks.
From what we can see, Jaguar has been moderately refreshing some of its models in the recent months। In addition to this, the XJ sedan will receive a facelift soon, subsequently followed by the production of the F-Type and XF coupe. Jaguar also has plans for a four-door XK and a crossover SUV in the near future.
The sale of Jaguar and Land Rover has yet to be completed, but that hasn’t stopped Tata Motors from preparing to make major changes at the companies. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, “Jaguar will be spun off almost immediately.”
British labor unions supported Jaguar’s sale to Tata over rival bids from fellow Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra and an American private equity firm. Both companies could eventually attempt to buy Jaguar from Tata should these reports become true. Recently Tata purchased 450 acres of land outside New Delhi, where the source says Land Rover production will be relocated.
Ford announced Tata Motors was the preferred buyer of Jaguar and Land Rover back in January and the sale could be completed in the next few weeks.

INTRODUCTION
The launch of the all-new Jaguar XK marks an exciting new era for Jaguar in terms of both design and engineering, and reinforces the marque's reputation for building ground-breaking cars that are as rewarding to drive as they are gorgeous to look at.
The XK generation that ceased production in June 2005 was Jaguar's fastest-selling sports model of all time. The challenge for the team that designed and engineered the all-new XK was to produce a model that bettered that success story. The new XK has been engineered above and beyond the high expectations that customers rightly have for a Jaguar sports car, a fact made possible because everything from its advanced aluminium chassis to its sophisticated transmission and exquisite interior has been designed in pursuit of a luxurious, advanced and stunning new Jaguar.
The all-new Jaguar XK will be launched early in 2006 and will allow Jaguar to emerge as a world leader in Lightweight Vehicle Technology while retaining its reputation for beautifully designed and crafted cars.
"The new XK delivers the unique blend of performance, luxury and style that only a Jaguar can," says Bibiana Boerio, managing director, Jaguar Cars. "And its beauty is more than skin-deep - this is a sports car with the heart and soul of every great Jaguar."

The XK competes in what the motor industry categorises as the 'Large Premium Sports Car' sector. This market is growing in importance and competitiveness - between 1996-2004, the total segment worldwide has more than doubled, from 48,000 to 99,000 units. Additionally, the number of key competitors increased over that period from four to seven. Forecasts predict that the sector size will remain constant over the next five years, with at least eight key competitors expected in the market by 2007.
Conventionally, the Large Premium Sports Car sector consists of two key product groups:
- Grand tourers, which maintain a high degree of luxury and refined comfort
- Overtly sporty cars, where high performance and handling are the main attributes.
Clearly, a product like the new XK that delivers well on both attributes will have immense appeal. The new XK offers the customer a sporty drive without compromising on luxury while its superb performance and handling will allow it to be bought by customers who previously would only have considered outright sports cars which compromised luxury and space in favour of more aggressive handling characteristics.
The new XK will appeal to a select group of affluent potential purchasers, who have an affinity with luxury products. They are looking for a grand tourer as well as a car with pure sporting credentials, one that provides exhilaration and escapism combined with status and exclusivity - 'luxury in a sports skin'.
Consequently, the new XK's beautiful exterior styling - which echoes Jaguar's lineage and signals performance - meets exactly those requirements. Similarly, customers will be delighted with an interior that engages and excites all the senses. It promotes driver focus, uses quality materials, colours and details, and has technology features that assist driver convenience and promote performance.
Advanced technology that adds to the driving experience will attract these 'savvy' consumers looking for features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and a touch-screen information and control centre. In short, the all-new XK offers customers the best of both worlds - sport and luxury, versatility and capability.
