Geneva Debut : Aston Martin DBS Volante and Vantage V12

First up is the convertible version of the DBS. The iconic Bond-mobile, whose name may have finally been determined, will make for a stunning drop-top. Not unlike arch-rival Ferrari, which took the 430 Scuderia and crossed it with the F430 Spider to create the 16M Scuderia Spider, Aston will take the fixed-roof DBS and put it in a room together with the DB9 Volante, dim the lights, put on some Boys2Men and let nature run its course.


Aston Martin doesn't have a huge product range. In fact, until the Rapide and One-77 come along, its line-up essentially boils down to two models: the Vantage and the DB9. And if reports coming straight from Switzerland are to be believed, the now-independent British sportscar company is descending on the Geneva Motor Show next month with new top-of-the-line variants of both.


Reportedly joining the DBS Volante/Roadster will be the production V12 Vantage RS. Forgot about that one? It's easy when Aston keeps serving up delectable new flagship supercars, so we'll scribble the recipe down for you again: take one V8 Vantage and the 600-hp V12 engine from the DBRS9 race car. Add louvers, spoilers, carbon fiber and alcantara. Shake (don't stir). Production should be very limited, and performance should be blistering. Stay tuned.

Geneva Debut _2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Official Details & Video

Porsche has revealed the updated and slightly more powerful 2010 911 GT3 ahead of its official debut at Geneva Motor Show in March.


The Euro base price of the new GT3 is €98,100, in Germany the retail price including value-added tax and specific national features is €116,947. In the USA the GT3 will be at dealerships in October at a price of $112,200 (MSRP without taxes). Porsche fans in the UK can expect the new model to be in dealerships this fall with a starting price of £81,914.


The new model receives many of the subtle exterior updates as the rest of the 911 family but adds a unique racing flair to the mix. Up front there is a new bumper with a lower spoiler, larger air intakes with mesh inserts, and modified bi-xenon headlights. Other changes to the new GT3 include a redesigned rear spoiler, rear LED taillights, and a new rear bumper.


Helping to keep all that power on the road are updated stability and traction control systems which aim to keep Porsche's legacy of offering outstanding vehicle dynamics while providing an enhanced measure of safety. The new version of Porsche Stability Management offers drivers the option of deactivating stability and traction control in separate steps, allowing for a custom tailored driving experience. Should the new safety systems fail to keep you on course, the larger carbon ceramic brakes will be there to help bring you to a halt.


Power comes from an enlarged version of Porsche's naturally aspirated flat-six engine which now comes in at 3.8-liters and boasts 435 horsepower and 317 ft-lbs of torque. This allows the GT3 to sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 194 mph. Compared to the current GT3, the new model features an additional 200cc in displacement which helps to create the extra 20 hp.

Geneva: Wiesmann GT MF4 Roadster BMW M3 with heart

If the speculation will correct Wies Mann Geneva unveil the roadster version of the GT MF4. And therein, in addition to the already known 367 hp 4.8 liter V8 from BMW, the block of the BMW M3 (4.0 V8 420 hp) are available.


In his dense brother, the GT MF4, the M3 block all at once become available. It is not confirmed, but the appearance of a roadster version of the MF4 probably means the end for the MF3 Roadster. Because in this model is the 3.2 six-in-line BMW M engine that recently went out of production. For the Roadster MF3 Wies Mann has no engine and therefore will be stopped with this model.

Geneva Motor Show: EDAG Light Car Concept

EDAG Light Car Concept The Light Car's exterior dimensions (4.0 meters long and 1.70 meters wide) put it in the compact car size range. However, thanks to its in-wheel drive system that eliminates the need of an engine and gearbox, it features an extra-long wheelbase of 2.90 meters, or 2mm longer than that of the BMW 5-Series sedan.


There's no doubt that this year's Geneva Salon in March will be jam-packed with electric and hybrid vehicles of all sorts. EDAG, a German design and engineering firm that has created anything from a Pontiac Solstice Station Wagon to amphibious rescue vehicles will perform the world debut of the "Light Car" concept. The compact sized hatchback will be propelled by four electric motors incorporated in the wheels featuring a range of up to 150 km - 93 miles.

One of the highlights of EDAG's concept is its innovative LED lighting technology that is incorporated in the glass panes. The LED lamps that mark out the outlines of the headlights and rear lights can be modified to the individual taste of the driver thus giving the car a unique appearance.

Geneva preview：New Renaultsport Megane Headed

The new Renaultsport Megane will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show on 3 March. UK sales have been brought forward and the new car will be available by late summer, or even slightly earlier.

The new Renaultsport Megane is expected to be seen as a direct rival for the forthcoming more extreme versions of the new Volkswagen Scirocco.

The new Renaultsport Megane will be based on the dramatic three-door Megane coupe, and a five-door version based on the regular Renault Megane hatchback has been ruled out.

The hot version will get unique styling, with a completely different nose based on that of the new Megane Trophy race car (pictured) that was unveiled at the Paris show last September.

Geneva Motor Show: Rinspeed iChange Concept

The most interesting part of this car is its maximum flexibility, the car being able, by pushing a button, to accommodate one, two or three passengers, depending on the necessity.

Practically, the shape of the body is changing, from a sport coupe to a compact vehicle. And if for all of this you use a source of electricity, the futurism is totally assured. We hope that Rinspeed iChange will be seen soon on the public roads.


Rinspeed revealed the first pictures with an innovative concept, which will be presented within the Geneva car show next year.

All New Ford Fiesta Unveiled

Introduced earlier tonight in the comfortable confines of Geneva's President Wilson Hotel, the new Ford Fiesta received an underwhelming response from the journalists attending its unveiling. Based on the Verve Concept, the public will get its first look at the new car during the Geneva Motor Show beginning this week.

Two editions of the car, one in metallic magenta and the other in lime green, matched the cocktails nicely, a fact that could only help journos on deadline from remembering some of the grittier details of the Fiesta. Details like its leather and purple-on-purple polka dot interior. Or the somewhat cheap feeling glove compartment. Or the incredibly inconvenient Bluetooth number pad, placed on the opposite side of the dash from the driver, and angled towards the passenger seat.

Production of the all-new Ford Fiesta begins later this year in Spain, with supply going out to the European Union. An American and Asian model will also be produced within the next two years. Ford Europe CEO John Fleming thinks the Fiesta will be able to find its market everywhere. When asked if Ford needed to make concessions to be popular in all markets, Fleming replied, “If the car looks good, and drives well, then we're not making any compromises.

Despite its misgivings, the new Fiesta's styling is a vast improvement on Fiestas of the past. Although flawed inside, the interior is still designed better than other Ford products. Power comes in at 115 PS, generated from its 1.6-liter petrol engine. Not much, but not bad for an entry-level car either. Plus, with a schnazzier RS coming out at a later date we expect consumers to have a more robust engine option down the line.

Kia Three SOUL concepts

Kia unveiled at the Geneva motor Show the three Soul concept cars: Kia SOUL Diva, Kia SOUL Burner and Kia SOUL Searcher. The Kia SOUL Burner is the bad boy of the three and comes with dragon tattoos over a black satin paintwork. The front bumper of the Kia SOUL Burner features L-shaped day-light LED driving lamps and at the rear has two vertical exhaust pipes.
The Kia SOUL Diva targets a style-conscious young-at-heart woman and comes in a combination of black, white and gold.

The Kia SOUL Searcher comes to offer a place of tranquility within the urban jungle। It features a leather finish on the bonnet, the folding roof, the tailgate panel, the dashboard, door panels and steering wheel rim.

The concept cars – SOUL Diva, SOUL Burner and SOUL Searcher – are each designed to appeal to different consumers and clearly display the potential for personalisation that the new production car will offer buyers.

“For Geneva, the Kia design team simultaneously developed three concepts with very different executions to hint at the 'world of possibilities’ open to future customers. SOUL Diva, SOUL Burner and SOUL Searcher were envisaged as three equal co-stars at Geneva, members of a team going through an urban adventure together,” adds Guillaume.

Kia SOUL Diva

The Kia SOUL Diva has been created as a fashion accessory for a style-conscious young-at-heart
woman who regards her car to be as important as her entire outfit. SOUL Diva is like a supermodel with an aura of glamour, a bit flashy but playful and fun!

Inside, SOUL Diva presents a black, white and gold world of leather and glitter – all beautifully and evenly lit by the full-length tinted glass panoramic roof. Turning the cabin into a stylish lounge, the seats are upholstered in glossy black imitation leather using ‘quilted’ stitching and trimmed to look like sofas. Even the cabin floor presents a tactile treat, with black long-pile ‘Pony-hide-style’ carpet that simply begs to be stroked.

Kia SOUL Burner

The Kia SOUL Burner is the ‘bad boy’ of Kia’s three new concept characters. A ‘show-off’ complete with dragon tattoos. From the outside, it is a mean, totally black beast with sparse flashes of scarlet. The tattoos are gloss black on the black satin paintwork, which shows a large dragon creeping over the bonnet. On the other side, a small dragon climbs up the C-Pillar.

The front bumper is equipped with L-shaped day-light LED driving lamps around the outer edges. At the rear, two vertical exhaust pipes are placed at the extremes of the bumper.

Inside SOUL Burner, the four individual sports seats and entire cabin trim are divided horizontally. Above the split, everything is finished in a rich matt red, below all is deep black.

Kia SOUL Searcher

The Kia SOUL Searcher is the concept that provides a haven of tranquility within the urban jungle, a comfort-zone on four wheels. It sets out to capture the spirit of Korean and Far Eastern culture with a focus on achieving personal inner peace and creating a calm cocoon for the occupants. Exuding casual confidence, the colours are muted, the textures are soft and the road presence is discreet.

An old, lived-in, leather finish is applied to the bonnet, the powered, folding roof and tailgate panel, plus the dashboard, door panels and steering wheel rim. Inside, grey-beige felt is used to cover the floor and the seats for an ambience of comforting domesticity that banishes pandemonium.

Maserati Chicane and Sfida Concepts in Motion

Maserati has released a video showing their Chicane concept car which will debut at next month’s Geneva Auto Show. Several students at the European Institute of Design in Turin created the concept as part of the Maserati Challenge.

The V8 powered Chicane features 2+2 seating and is smaller in size than the Quattroporte and Granturismo, measuring in at 4,400 mm in length, 1,850 mm wide and 1,250 mm high. The video also shows another part of the Maserati Challenge, where students were asked to create a shooting brake concept. Named the Sfida, the concept is a 3D animation meant to test the design student's abilities and creativity.

Renault Koleos Goes On and Off Road in This Video

It is good to know Renault Koleos is the first SUV from Renault and all technical specs, such as the engines (all four cylinders, a petrol 2,5-litre that generates 170 cv and a 2-litre turbodiesel engine with two outputs, 150 cv and 175 cv), traction (it will come in two or four-wheel-drive) and heritage (it derives from the Nissan X-Trail), but wouldn’t it be better to see what the car can do? Well, Renault has given us this chance with the video we bring to you in this article.

At first it shows the Koleos on road, the sort of environment it will very likely be seen more often on, but suddenly it changes to an off-road track and it is easy to say the new SUV seems to do pretty well in this sort of terrain too, especially in the final part of the video, where it faces rougher conditions.

Koleos is 4.52 m long and 1.85 m wide and has a ground clearance of 206 mm. It will come with a six-speed manual transmition or with a CVT gearbox.

Volkswagen Scirocco in Its Environment: The Road!

Most cars look better moving than in stand still. This is also the case for the VW Scirocco, recently introduced at the Geneva Motors Show. Besides showing the car in some of its best colours (we have just loved the red one), the German brand has also released a video of the new vehicle in its natural environment: the road. And what a road car it is!

We have already given you all the information about the new sport coupe, but it is worth repeating the main ones: prices in Germany will start at € 21,750, three petrol (TSI, generating 122 cv, 160 cv and 200 cv) and one diesel (TDI, developing 140 cv) engines will be offered, the six-speed DSG gearbox will be available for the 200 cv TSI and the TDI and the seven-speed DSG for the 160 cv TSI (why not for the 200 cv?) and last, but not least, its suspension will feature the Adaptative Chassis Control.

Since Scirocco’s front end reveal the new Volkswagen’s “design language”, this video is really handy. It will help you get used to the new looks most cars from the German automaker will have in the future.

2008 Geneva: Maserati Chicane Concept

A few masters-degree design students from the European Institute of Design in Turin have worked their magic for Maserati, who will unveil their hard work at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Maserati Chicane Concept is a 2+2 coupe and one size smaller than the Quattroporte and Granturismo, spurring on rumours of a smaller Maserati. The Chicane measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,850 mm width and 1,250 height.

The Maserati Chicane Concept will draw power from a V8 and directs the torque onto the tarmac through the rear wheels. The Chicane is the brainchild of Dmytro Zyubyairov (Ukraine) and Oscar Palladino (Italy).

Alongside the Chicane, another student project will be shown through a dedicated video. The Maserati Challenge was designed by a different group of students and is a 2+1 shooting brake, a 2 door station wagon with enough room in the back for bulky sports equipment.

Lamborghini LP560-4 Video

Ok, you already know the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 has been presented at this year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show. You are also probably aware that this engineering masterpiece has 560 cv in all four wheels, that it can reach 100 km/h in only 3.7 s and that its top speed is 325 km/h, but you probably did not see Lamborghini’s president himself, Stephan Winkelmann, presenting the car, as well as images of the presentation in Geneva. This is what this video is about.

Besides the president speaking about the car, the great star of the video is the LP560-4 itself, shown in nice angles, as well as in the factory. You can also check details, such as exhaust pipes, the girls that have unveiled the supercar (nice!), and a glimpse of what it must do when it is in motion.

Besides the new looks, the car also brings weight reductions, enhanced four wheel drive system, enhanced gear changes and lower CO2 emissions. Summing up, the car is even better than ever before. Not that the previous version wouldn’t be already great, but, for some, the best is never enough.

No Norwegian Electric Cars? TH!NK Again…

When Ford, at the time still under Jack Nasser’s control, announced it would build an electric vehicle called Th!nk, in 2000, some people doubted it would go ahead. The car was made by a Norwegian company, PIVCO, bought by the American giant in December 1998 and renamed TH!NK Nordic AS. In 2003, Ford sold the enterprise in January 31 2003 to to Kamkorp Microelectronics, a Swiss company, and, in March 2006, it got back to Norwegian hands, more specifically the investment group InSpire. The result of all this is exposed at the Geneva Motor Show. For those who think the best for the company would be to remain under Ford’s control, two new cars from Think Global (the new company’s name) prove that’s not exactly how things ought to go. Meet the Th!nk city and the TH!NK ox.

The first one, the city, will be on sale in Norway soon after the Geneva Motor Show. Denmark and Sweden will be the next countries to receive this small two-seater, with UK, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands following shortly afterwards, in 2009. Although it comes only with two seats, there are two rear seats that can be ordered as options, what may not be a nice idea on a 3.12 m long vehicle, with a wheelbase of mere 1.97 m. Top speed is 100 km/h, since the car weighs 1,397 kg (a heavy guy for its size). Prices start at € 24,500.

For Norwegian drivers that need more space, but are still willing to buy an electric vehicle, there’s the second new car, the first five-seater from Think. The ox is a 4.12 m long vehicle. Although still a concept, the vehicle will very likely enter production, considering there is a high demand in Norway for this sort of automobile and even the first TH!NK City cars are still running up there.

If space is a matter, the ox will offer plenty of it, with a generous wheelbase of 2.78 m. Though bigger, the ox weighs little more than the city: 1,500 kg.

Range matters seem to have been solved. Both the city and the ox are able to run more than 200 km on one charge, although only the ox has been presented with lithium ion batteries. Tesla Motors has recently announced an agreement with Think to sell these batteries to the Norwegian manufacturer. Nowadays, the city uses sodium batteries, but that may change soon.
